The ViiV Healthcare has launched the Positive Action Community Grants Program to fund community-based projects that reach those most affected by, or at risk of HIV, particularly in marginalised, hard-to-reach, or vulnerable communities.

Priority Areas
- Quality of life for people living with HIV (from surviving to thriving): Initiatives that enable an improved quality of life for people living with HIV and address barriers, including stigma, social support, and resilience.
- Enhanced relationships between people living with HIV and healthcare professionals: Initiatives that help improve health literacy and enable people living with HIV to engage in enhanced communication with their healthcare providers.
- Improved HIV-related knowledge in priority populations: Activities that focus on health promotion, prevention, and peer education to improve awareness of HIV in priority populations, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and reduce risk behaviours associated with HIV transmission.
- Improved health system responses: Projects aimed at improving health systems responses for better long-term outcomes, addressing issues like comorbidities and ageing for people living with HIV.
Funding Information
The total available funding is AU$200,000 (excluding GST) for the 2024 cycle. Grant requests must not exceed more than 25% of the applicant's annual organisational income.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the grant, applicants must:
- Be a charity, non-governmental, or community-based organisation focused (>75%) on HIV and people living with HIV.
- Meet all legal requirements expected of a community-based organisation in Australia.
- Engage actively with people living with HIV and advocate for their needs.
Ineligibility Criteria
The program does not fund:
- Retrospective project expenses.
- Overseas travel.
- Ongoing operational or maintenance costs.
- Purchases of equipment that require ongoing maintenance.
- Competitions, prizes, or fundraising activities.
- Projects seeking more than 25% of the organisation's annual income.
