The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) and the Netherlands Film Fund (NFF) are seeking applications for the Thuthuka Co-Development Fund. This fund supports projects of high cinematographic quality that are likely to interest audiences in both countries as well as international cinema audiences.
Funding Information
The annual budget of the Fund is up to €80,000. The NFVF will match this with an equivalent of €40,000 in ZAR, adjusted for currency fluctuations. No more than two projects will be supported each year—one from South Africa and one from the Netherlands. Each project will receive €40,000 (or the equivalent in ZAR), including a maximum of €6,000 for the producer’s fee plus overhead. Grants are available for script development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to:

- Teams consisting of a producer and a writer must apply. The producer from one country must apply with a scriptwriter from the other country for a feature film (>80 min), feature-length documentary, live-action or animated film. Applications without a co-producer and writer from the other country will not be considered.
- There are no limitations regarding style or genre.
- Projects must be feasible within the criteria of both Funds.
- Applications should be submitted in English and signed by all partners involved.
