Salzburg Global Seminar
Program Overview
As the world undergoes profound changes in climate, society, politics, and the economy, education systems are evolving to meet new challenges. One of the most significant aspects of this transformation is the changing nature of teaching and the role of teachers. To address these critical shifts, the Salzburg Global Seminar is launching a program titled “The Future of Teaching,” bringing together key stakeholders from around the world to discuss and shape the future of education over the next decade.
Key Areas of Focus
- Teacher Recruitment and Retention: Examining how expectations of teachers are evolving and where innovations are being implemented to address severe teacher shortages.
- Impact of Artificial Intelligence: Exploring how AI is being used to enhance teaching and where these innovations can be replicated or adapted.
- Transforming Education Initiatives: Investigating the involvement of the teaching profession in the UN’s global initiative on Transforming Education and how teachers can connect with policymakers.

The program will bring together approximately 50 participants, including teachers, teaching unions, policymakers, researchers, and civil society organizations. Participation is by invitation or application, with the application window open from July 24 to September 4, 2024.
