  • CCUS & methane capture
  • Capture of greenhouse gases – including direct air carbon capture, ocean capture, and point source capture of CO2 and methane
  • Flaring and venting mitigation, fugitive emissions reductions
  • Infrastructure to store and transport greenhouse gases
  • Digital technologies – AI-enabled solutions, sensors, and methane leak detection
  • Usage of greenhouse gases – mineralisation, synthetic fuels, long-duration storage
  • Low carbon hydrogen – production, transport, and utilisation technologies
  • Alternative fuels – e-fuels, sustainable fuels for aviation, maritime, and transport applications
  • Renewable energy – including offshore wind, solar, geothermal, and decarbonised industrial heat
  • Storage of energy – batteries, mechanical storage, thermal storage

Funding Information

Grant Amount: Up to £50k per company

Programme Duration: 18-week programme from February 3, 2025, to June 5, 2025

10 companies will be selected per cohort.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must have a novel technology within the scope of clean energy.
  • The technology must be pre-commercial (TRL 3-6).
  • The technology must have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Start-ups must commit to actively participating in the full 18-week programme.
  • All start-ups must have ambitions to deploy their technologies in the UK, particularly in the North East of Scotland.
  • Applicants must meet the requirements of the UK Subsidy Control Act (2022).
  • Start-ups must not have applied to the TechX Accelerator more than three times with the same technology.
