The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) seeks a pilot project to explore the use of outcome-based financing mechanisms in the context of mine action and livelihoods in Syria. This project will use these mechanisms to provide funding for the clearance of contaminated land of landmines and/or other explosive remnants of war (ERW) in any one area of control in Syria. It will then provide follow-up support to communities to ensure the land is returned to productive use and livelihood benefits are obtained.
This project is designed to test the applicability of outcome-based financing mechanisms to fragile and conflict-affected states.
Aims
The project aims to reduce the risk of harm and deliver tangible livelihood benefits in any one area of control in Syria through the clearance and productive use of contaminated land.
