The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs (Office of Indian Energy), is seeking collaboration with up to four regional nonprofit intertribal organizations as part of a pilot program.
Purpose
This opportunity aims to help federally recognized Tribes navigate and access DOE clean energy funding and technical assistance by amplifying DOE messaging and creating effective engagement opportunities for member Tribes.
Funding Information
Eligible nonprofit regional intertribal organizations may request up to $300,000 annually for up to 3 years.
Eligible Activities
Funding can support activities including:
- Tracking and disseminating DOE funding and technical assistance opportunities to member Tribal governments.
- Assessing member Tribes’ clean energy needs and connecting them to DOE programs and funding.
- Organizing events, workshops, and conferences to foster Tribal collaboration and learning.
- Sharing information through newsletters, websites, and other communications channels.
- Enhancing DOE Tribal engagement and communications through regular sessions and briefings.
- Identifying and disseminating relevant information to member Tribal governments.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, organizations must:
- Be a coalition of two or more federally recognized Indian Tribes.
- Be established under Congressional, state, or Tribal law.
- Be governed by board members who are current elected Tribal government officials.
- Act at the direction of participating Tribes within a specific geographic region.
- Qualify under Internal Revenue Code of 1954, 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3) as a nonprofit organization.
- Have a focus other than public health or gaming.
