The London Community Foundation is accepting submissions for the Thamesmead Community Fund to support charities, community groups, or individuals delivering activities in Thamesmead that connect the community and support social and cultural activities.

Funding Information

Grants of up to £3,000 are available, covering costs related to the proposed project.

Eligible Projects

Examples of projects that might be funded include:

  • Arts and culture-based activities that bring the community together
  • Sports clubs that encourage the use of Thamesmead’s green spaces and waterways
  • Projects which celebrate and share Thamesmead’s unique history
  • After-school clubs and school holiday activities
  • Photography or art exhibitions which promote community cohesion
  • Literacy, numeracy, and digital skills sessions
  • Wellbeing activities, e.g., regular tea dances, coffee mornings, or film clubs

Criteria

The Thamesmead Community Fund (TMCF) will provide grants for charities and community organisations, and Thamesmead residents aged 18+ who have an existing or new project. Applications must be for projects/activities that demonstrate benefits for the wider Thamesmead community and meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Increases levels of arts and cultural activity
  • Supports educational outcomes for a group of people
  • Brings the community together
  • Seeks to improve local health and wellbeing
  • Encourages community use of local outdoor spaces
  • Supports activities to strengthen children and family relationships
  • Helps people develop new skills

Who Can Apply?

Eligible organisations include:

  • Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
  • Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) - may also be registered as a Charity or a Community Interest Company Limited by Guarantee (CICLG)
  • Trust
  • Unincorporated Association
  • Community Benefit Societies (CBS) - ideally registered as charitable with HMRC, but this is not essential
  • Constituted residents’ associations

All applicant organisations should have a minimum of 2 unrelated Trustees/Directors/Management Committee members.

Ineligibility Criteria

The following types of organisations are not eligible:

  • Companies limited by Shares (including CIC limited by shares)
  • Statutory organisations, such as local authorities
  • NHS bodies
  • Co-operative societies
