Submissions Open for Novo Nordisk Foundation Conferences, Symposia and Workshops

Scientists and students participating in a conference or workshop in Denmark, Faroe Islands, or Greenland, focused on advancing research, innovation, and collaboration in biomedical, sustainability, and other key fields.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation is now accepting submissions for its Conferences, Symposia and Workshops programme. This initiative provides researchers and students with the opportunity to present and discuss the latest research and innovation activities within their fields.

Programme Objective

The primary objective is to support bottom-up events that:

  • Gather scientists and students within novel and exciting fields to establish emerging communities.
  • Draw focus to new branches of established fields and foster new collaborations.

While recurring events are generally not supported, exceptions may be made if there is a strategic focus or an extraordinary opportunity for the Danish scientific community.

Areas of Support

The programme supports events in the following areas:

  • Biomedical and Health Science Research: Supports basic research in biomedicine leading to advances in translational medicine and clinical applications.
  • Sustainability: Addresses global sustainability challenges with the potential for positive environmental impact.
  • Natural and Technical Science Research: Supports basic research with applications in health and sustainability.
  • Research in Art and Art History: Supports significant contributions to art history in Denmark.
  • Innovation: Aims at translating scientific discoveries into products and solutions for health and sustainability.
  • Education and Outreach: Focuses on engaging students and educators in STEM disciplines and enhancing scientific literacy.

Funding Information

The programme offers a total of up to DKK 8.2 million, with grants available up to DKK 500,000 for projects lasting up to one year.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Organize events within fields supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. Events focused on career guidance are not supported.
  • Be tenured or tenure-track individuals based at a university, research institution, or museum in Denmark, The Faroe Islands, or Greenland. The host institution must administer the grant.
  • Be a specific person with relevant subject-matter competencies; scientific societies or professional event organizers cannot apply directly, though support from such entities can be utilized.
  • Ensure the event takes place in Denmark, The Faroe Islands, or Greenland within 18 months of grant notification. Events planned beyond this period should apply in upcoming calls.
  • Justify the need for additional funding if they have major existing funding from NNF or other sources (≥10 million).
