The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is excited to announce the American Fellowship program. This initiative supports women scholars pursuing full-time study to complete dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research full-time, or preparing research for publication over eight consecutive weeks.
Types of Fellowships
Dissertation Fellowship
The American Dissertation Fellowship is designed to support scholars in their final year of writing their dissertation. Applicants must have completed all coursework, passed preliminary exams, and received approval for their research proposal by November 2023. Open to all fields of study, with a special encouragement for those in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), or gender issues.
Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowship
This fellowship aims to increase the number of women in tenure-track positions and promote equity in higher education. It supports candidates in pursuing independent research for a year. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent and cannot be tenured professors. All fields of study are eligible, with special encouragement for STEM and gender issue research.
Short-Term Research Publication Grant
These grants assist scholars in preparing research manuscripts for publication. The support is available for tenure-track and part-time faculty, as well as new and established researchers. Applicants should have eight consecutive weeks available for writing and editing. The focus is on manuscripts responding to critical reviews and not preliminary research. Scholars in STEM fields or those addressing gender issues are encouraged to apply.
