The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is seeking proposals for the Health Disparities in PH Research Award. This award supports research aimed at early diagnosis, education, and improving clinical outcomes and treatments for people with pulmonary hypertension (PH) affected by health inequities.
Focus Areas
- Identifying societal or economic factors impacting PH patients’ health.
- Understanding variations in incidence, prevalence, care management, and outcomes among different PH patient populations due to health disparities.
- Addressing individual behavioral factors contributing to PH.
- Overcoming challenges in training and educational opportunities to diversify healthcare providers in PH care centers.
- Tackling inequities in healthcare access, both within the U.S. and globally.
- Leveraging PH biorepositories or registries to better understand and address health disparities influenced by social determinants.
Funding Information
- Grant Amount: Up to $50,000 per year
- Duration: Up to two years
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to applicants within the U.S. and internationally.
- Applicants must hold an advanced degree (PhD, MD, DO, PharmD, or equivalent) or a doctoral-level clinical degree in public health, clinical health sciences, nursing, or allied health.
- Diverse research teams are encouraged, bringing together innovative ideas from various perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.
- Simultaneous submission of grants with scientific overlap is allowed. If multiple applications are funded, the applicant must notify PHA within one month.
- Proposals that increase inclusivity and address health disparities in underrepresented populations (e.g., Black, Latino, Asian, Native American, LGBTQ+, lower socio-economic groups, and underserved geographical regions) are encouraged.
