Overview

The Awards acknowledge the unsung heroes of the community who, through their contributions, make the state a better place. These individuals and organizations offer outstanding service each day and enable the communities to be stronger as a result of their tireless efforts.

Outstanding contribution and community service includes areas such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and well-being of a community.

Categories

  • Citizen of the Year: Presented to someone making an extraordinary contribution to the community and may recognise outstanding service over a number of years.
  • Young Citizen of the Year: Presented to a young emerging leader who is making a real difference in their community.
  • Community Event of the Year: Presented to the person or group who has staged the most outstanding event for their community.
  • Award for Active Citizenship: Presented to a person or group delivering outstanding work on an event or project for the community during the past calendar year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizen of the Year: To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Young Citizen of the Year: To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen aged over 16 years and under 30 years of age on January 26, 2025.
  • Community Event of the Year: To be eligible, the person or group must be Australian Citizens.
  • Award for Active Citizenship: The person or group need not be Australian Citizens.
