Innovate UK, in partnership with Cornwall Council, Plymouth City Council, and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership, is investing up to £3 million in innovation projects through the Launchpad programme. This funding supports the UK government’s goals outlined in the Levelling Up White Paper.
Grants are available between £150,000 and £750,000 for projects lasting between 6 and 18 months. Projects must be carried out in the UK and aim to exploit results within the UK. The funding cannot be used for projects that:
- Do not contribute to innovation in the marine and maritime cluster in the Great South West.
- Require approval from the Marine and Coastguard Agency for operational testing.
- Are led by businesses that previously won funding in the Great South West Launchpad Round 1 CR&D competition.
- Request less than £150,000 or more than £750,000.
- Are for primary production in fisheries, aquaculture, or agriculture.
- Depend on export performance or domestic inputs usage.
Specific Themes
Projects can focus on one or more of the following themes:
- Monitoring and Autonomy: Disruptive technologies for equipment inspection and marine monitoring, enhancing offshore renewable energy safety.
- Clean Maritime: Transition to alternative fuel vessels and integrating ports into decarbonised energy networks.
- Digital Ocean Technology: Advancing sensor and communication technology for ocean understanding and offshore operations.
