The Kansai Osaka 21st Century Association has launched the Japan World Exposition 1970 Commemorative Fund Grant to commemorate the success of Expo ’70 and promote international understanding and cultural exchange.

Funding Information
The maximum grant amount is 5 million yen.
Duration: Between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026
Eligible Projects
- Projects that commemorate the success of Expo ’70 and contribute to public interest and international understanding.
- Projects contributing to international cultural exchange or enhancement of international goodwill.
- Projects related to international cooperation, education, or academic study.
- International conferences in basic natural sciences, excluding engineering and medical science, where operational funds are insufficient despite the importance of the meetings.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations include foreign national governments, local governments, and other entities carrying out projects contributing to public interest.
- Organizations do not need corporate status to apply.
- Individuals and profit-making corporations are not eligible.
- Organizations must be capable of completing the project.
- Voluntary organizations must be established before June 30, 2024. New organizations are excluded.
- For multi-year projects, at least one year of experience in the related activities is required.
Conditions
- The project should contribute to international understanding and be suitable for commemorating Expo ’70.
- It must be well-planned and expected to create positive effects.
- It should not benefit a limited number of individuals.
- There should be an association with Japan.
- The implementing organization should not be an investor in any third-party project.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Projects with no international aspect.
- Projects where the applied grant amount is five percent or less of the total budget.
- Projects with unclear budget status (e.g., missing budget documents).
- Projects that can be financially maintained without the grant or are deemed profitable.
- Projects where participation and admission fees are not included in income and are judged to be profitable.
