This International Literacy Day, you are invited to participate in a regional photography competition themed: "Enhancing literacy through multilingualism: Promoting peace across the Blue Pacific Continent."

This competition offers Pacific Islanders the chance to demonstrate their creativity and contribute to ongoing efforts in the region to boost literacy standards. It aligns with the global Sustainable Development Goal 4 and focuses on literacy's role in promoting peace and mutual understanding.

Theme

The global theme for International Literacy Day (ILD) is "Promoting multilingual education: Literacy for mutual understanding and peace."

Prize Information

  • 1st Prize: FJD 1000 worth of photography equipment
  • 2nd Prize: FJD 500 worth of photography equipment
  • 3rd Prize: FJD 200 worth of photography equipment

Eligibility Criteria

  • Photos must reflect authentic moments or scenes related to the theme, with categories including:
    • Literacy in Food Systems
    • Literacy in Climate Change
    • Literacy in Oceans
    • Literacy in Gender
  • Participants can submit up to 5 photos.
  • Each submission must include a 100-word descriptor.
  • Photos must be high-resolution in JPEG, JPG, PNG, or TIFF formats.
  • Photographers must be from the Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand.
  • Entrants must be 13 years or older and agree to allow SPC-EQAP to publish the photos in print or electronic formats.
  • Photos must belong to the entrant. If previously published, the entrant must have photographer rights and indicate where the photo was first published.
