Areas of Research
The aim of this India-Denmark call is to enhance value creation through research and innovation in the development of new technologies, solutions, services, and business models related to cutting-edge hydrogen technologies, particularly in:
- Green fuels for transport and industry (Power-to-X, etc.)
- Solutions to convert renewable electricity into products that can reduce emissions in sectors where there are no cost-effective fossil energy alternatives
Projects can contribute to:
- Green hydrogen production, storage, and utilization based on renewable energy
- Electrolyser and fuel cell innovations, including boosting production efficiency and finding cost-effective alternatives to rare materials
- Manufacturing electrolyser/fuel cell components and system integration
- Underground hydrogen storage, compressed tanks, and material-based storage solutions
- Decarbonization of industries such as refineries, steel, and ammonia production
- Non-electrolysis-based hydrogen production systems/technologies
- Power-to-X-system integration with the broader energy system
- Forecasting studies, policy interventions, and techno-economics in the hydrogen energy value chain
Funding Information
The successful projects will be jointly funded by India and Denmark. The Danish counterpart will be funded by Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD), while the Indian counterpart will receive funding from DST. A total of 20 million DKK (Denmark) and 200 million INR (India) will be allocated to support 3-7 joint research and innovation projects, each lasting up to 3 years. Co-financing and participation of public and/or private enterprises are encouraged.
Eligibility Criteria
- Scientists, Engineers, and Technologists working in universities, academic institutions, R&D institutions, and laboratories with adequate infrastructure to conduct R&D
- PIs should have relevant experience, as demonstrated by previous prototype commercialization, development, or field knowledge
