The Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) has launched the Immunisation Ready Grants Program to support the delivery of activities or initiatives aimed at increasing immunisation rates and improving knowledge about the important benefits of immunisations within the local Gold Coast community.

Objectives

  • Improve Access: Expand access to immunisation services, particularly for priority populations, to increase overall vaccination rates and protect public health in the Gold Coast region.
  • Strengthen Systems: Improve immunisation systems and processes within primary health care services to boost vaccination rates and reduce the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases on hospital and health systems.
  • Enhance Literacy: Increase knowledge and understanding of the benefits of immunisations among individuals and communities to empower individuals to make informed health decisions.

Funding Information

Small grants of up to $10,000 are available.

Funding Categories

There are four funding categories available, and eligible applicants can apply for multiple categories. Note: Individual applicants are only eligible to apply for the Training & Education category.

  • Equipment Support: Short-term equipment hires to conduct programs or events (e.g., vaccine eskies, tables, chairs, gazebos).
    Out of Scope: Prolonged hire of equipment outside of the funding period or capital works/asset purchases.
  • Training and Education: Staff training or upskilling to support immunisation efforts.
  • Staffing and Operations: Contracting additional staff to support project activities, extended opening hours, staff wages, travel expenses, and venue hires for vaccine-related activities.
    Out of Scope: Staff bonuses, Medicare subsidies, or incentives.
  • Resources: Creating/developing resources to improve vaccine literacy, such as booklets or flyers.
    Out of Scope: Replicating state or federal government resources or mainstream media advertising.

Eligible Activities

The grant can be used to fund strategies and initiatives aimed at improving vaccine literacy or enhancing immunisation services in primary health care providers. Examples of eligible activities include:

  • Targeted health education or awareness-raising campaigns for priority population groups.
  • Community engagement activities to improve understanding of vaccine services.
  • Events or programs to enhance access to immunisation services (e.g., pop-up clinics).
  • Education or skill development for primary health care workers.
  • Development or adaptation of vaccine-related educational resources for specific populations.
  • Initiatives to identify individuals due or overdue for vaccinations.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from the following groups:

  • Primary health care providers and medical organisations (e.g., general practices, local pharmacies)
  • Not-for-profit organisations
  • Community groups (e.g., support groups or associations)
  • Individual health professionals (endorsed by their employing organisation)

All applicants must operate within the GCPHN region.
