How to Series 2: Gender Equality and Sustainable Project Management
Applications are now open for How to Series 2: Gender Equality and Sustainable Project Management. This training program aims to develop and strengthen awareness and understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment as a foundational step towards behavioral change and integrating a gender perspective into everyday work for all UN staff at headquarters, regional, and country levels.

Objective
The program provides an introduction to gender equality and women’s empowerment concepts, international frameworks, and methods. It helps users connect gender issues with various thematic areas, including:
- Work
- Education
- Political participation
- Emergencies
- Peace and security
- Sexual and reproductive health
- Sexual and gender diversity and human rights
- Violence against women
Modules
Three core modules are mandatory for all UN system staff:
- Gender concepts to get started
- International frameworks for gender equality
- Promoting gender equality throughout the system, including an introduction to the UN gender architecture and strategies to overcome challenges to gender equality and women's empowerment.
Optional thematic modules are available after completing the core modules, developed in collaboration with partner agencies:
- Women’s economic empowerment (UN Women)
- Women’s leadership and decision-making (UN Women)
- Violence against women and girls (UN Women)
- Gender equality in the world of work (ILO)
- Gender equality and education (UNESCO)
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights (UNFPA)
- Gender equality in emergencies (WFP)
- Women, peace, and security (UN Women)
- Sexual and gender diversity and human rights (OHCHR and UNAIDS)
- Trade and Gender Equality
Upcoming thematic modules include:
- Gender Equality and Volunteerism (UNV)
- Gender Equality and Migration (OIM)
- Gender and Sustainable Industrial Development (UNIDO)
To translate gender issues from theory to practice, the series also includes the following modules:
- Gender Equality Markers (UN Women)
- Gender Equality and Sustainable Project Management (UNOPS)
