Program Overview

The Global Undergraduate Semester Exchange Program - Pakistan (Global UGRAD-Pakistan) is launched by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the United States Department of State. The program is administered in Pakistan by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) and in the United States by the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Pakistani citizens
  • Applicants should be between 18-24 years old by the deadline
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university in Pakistan
  • Committed to returning to their home university after the program
  • Must be in their 14th year of formal education (2nd year of Bachelor's at the time of application deadline)
  • Must submit current/most recent and old transcripts with application
  • Individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, remote areas, women, minorities, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply

Ineligibility Criteria

  • Dual U.S./Pakistani nationals or U.S. permanent residents
  • Employees of the Fulbright organization, the U.S. Department of State, or USAID, and their immediate family members
  • Students who have previously been to the U.S. on a J-visa or a U.S. government-funded grant
