Goal

The goal of the GOMRG program is to support scientists studying innovations and accelerating the application of new knowledge related to early detection and etiology of lung cancer across different demographics and populations. It is not intended for awareness programs or solely for research infrastructure.

Objectives

This grant focuses on:

  • Research into early detection methodologies for lung cancer, such as screening or blood-based testing, including among those not meeting current screening criteria.
  • Research into the etiology of lung cancer across different populations and demographics, especially light ex-smokers or non-smokers.

Funding Information

Up to two grants of $25,000 CAD each will be awarded. Funding will support direct costs of a defined research program, including supplies, expenses, wages, and equipment. This grant is not intended as a fellowship, and indirect costs are not eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

The GOMRG is open to researchers who:

  • Have an academic or research appointment commencing by the effective date of funding.
  • Can pursue the proposed research project independently for the entire funding duration, supervise trainees (if applicable), and publish research results.
  • Conform to institutional regulations concerning research conduct, supervision of trainees, and employment conditions of staff paid with the funding.
  • Fellows may apply if supervised by a primary investigator meeting the “researcher” requirements.
  • New researchers/investigators involved in pilot, basic science, or proof of concept projects are strongly encouraged to apply.
