Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Program Lebanon: Study in the U.S. for 2025-2026

Apply for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange Program to study in the U.S. for the 2025-2026 academic year. This scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, covers travel, tuition, health insurance, accommodation, and a monthly allowance. Open to Lebanese high school students born between August 15, 2008, and August 15, 2010. Deadline: November 15, 2024."


The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, offers high school students from Lebanon an exciting opportunity to spend the 2025-2026 academic year in the United States.

Program Details

Participants will experience a full academic year at an American high school, engage in activities to learn about American society and values, develop leadership skills, and share Lebanese culture with Americans. The scholarship covers:

  • Round-trip travel expenses
  • Tuition fees
  • Health insurance
  • Accommodation
  • A monthly allowance for miscellaneous expenses

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this program, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in Brevet or 1st secondary class of the Lebanese baccalaureate program, or in the 9th or 10th grade of high school
  • Be born between August 15, 2008, and August 15, 2010
  • Be a resident and citizen of Lebanon or a long-term Palestinian residing in Lebanon
  • Not be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Show maturity, good character, scholastic aptitude, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Have a minimum of “B” average or 12/20 for the past three years without failing grades
  • Demonstrate strong English language ability with a minimum “B” average or 12/20 in English for the past three years
  • Agree to maintain at least a “C” average or 10/20 in a U.S. high school
  • Be willing to participate in American host family daily life
  • Have not previously attended school for a semester or academic year in the U.S.
