Overview

The Ontario Arts Council is currently accepting applications for its Deaf and Disability Arts Projects. This program supports Ontario-based artists and arts professionals who are Deaf and/or have a disability.

Purpose

The program supports:

  • Artists and arts professionals who are Deaf and/or have a disability.
  • Ad hoc groups, collectives, and arts organizations led by Deaf artists and/or artists with disabilities.

Categories

The program has three categories:

  • Creation: To cover costs for research, development, exploration, experimentation, and creation of new work.
  • Production: To cover costs for the production and creation of artworks.
  • Professional Development: To cover costs for study, training, mentorship, internship, apprenticeship, and documentation of artwork.

Funding Information

  • Creation: Up to $10,000
  • Production: Up to $10,000
  • Professional Development: Up to $10,000

What This Program Funds

Creation

  • Research and development
  • Exploration and experimentation
  • Creation of new work

Production

  • Creation and/or production of artworks (e.g., music compositions, visual art, media art, theatre, and dance)

Professional Development

  • Study and training
  • Mentorships
  • Internships and apprenticeships
  • Documentation of artwork

Eligible Funding

Creation

  • Artist fees
  • Workspace and equipment rental
  • Research materials
  • Transportation and travel
  • Accommodation
  • Meal allowance
  • Small-scale equipment and materials

Production

  • All eligible expenses from the Creation category
  • Artistic, production, venue, and administrative costs
  • Marketing and promotional costs

Professional Development

  • Tuition and registration fees
  • Mentor and tutor fees
  • Internship and apprenticeship expenses
  • Documentation of artwork

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are accepted from:

  • Ontario-based professional artists and arts professionals who are Deaf and/or have a disability.
  • Ad hoc groups, collectives, and not-for-profit disability arts organizations led by Deaf artists and/or artists with disabilities.

Ineligibility Criteria

You cannot apply to multiple OAC programs for the same activity at the same time. You may re-apply if your first application was unsuccessful.
