The Domestic Industry Initiatives Program, managed by Creative BC, supports business initiatives and events that engage and develop British Columbia's creative sectors, including motion picture, interactive digital media, and magazine and book publishing.
Program Objectives
- Support business initiatives and events that engage and develop British Columbia’s Creative Industries.
- Invest in activities that develop and innovate B.C.’s creative ecosystem, including education and training, research, and industry conferences.
- Encourage reconciliation, equity, and environmental priorities in projects.
- Support projects led by systemically excluded groups experiencing barriers to participation.
Funding Information
Funding starts at $1,000 and can cover up to 75% of project expenses.
Eligible Activities
- Industry conferences, events, panels, workshops, and forums.
- Training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Resources, policies, or manuals on business practices, sustainability, and equity.
- Projects increasing the capacity of systemically excluded groups in B.C.’s creative industries.
- Economic research projects benefiting motion picture, interactive digital media, or publishing industries.
Eligibility Criteria
- Incorporated under British Columbia’s Society Act or a BC-based not-for-profit organization.
- Governed by a Board of Directors (if applicable).
- Engaged in developing the province’s creative industries.
- Principals, directors, and officers must be in good standing with Creative BC.
Ineligible Activities
- Events in their inaugural year.
- Ceremonies, award shows, fundraisers, luncheons, receptions, galas, and parties.
- Live performances (theatre, music, dance).
- Film festival screenings.
- Development or production of creative content (films, web series, etc.).
- Entrepreneurial activities benefiting a single company or individual.
