Daiwa Foundation Small Grants (UK-Japan)

The Daiwa Anglo Japanese Foundation is pleased to announce a Small Grants Programme aimed at supporting interactions between the UK and Japan. This program is open to individuals, societies, associations, and other bodies in both countries.

Funding Information

• Grants of £2,000-£9,000 are available.
• The average award is around £3,000 to £4,000.
• Funding is meant to be a contribution to the proposed project and rarely covers the full budget.

Eligible Projects

• Projects across all fields of activity, including educational and grassroots exchanges, research travel, and the organization of conferences, exhibitions, and other events.
• New initiatives are especially encouraged.

Eligibility Criteria

• Open to individuals, societies, associations, or other bodies in the UK or Japan.
• Applicants must answer eligibility questions to ensure their application meets the guidelines.
• UK-based applicants can apply online; Japanese applications should be posted to the Tokyo Office.

Ineligible Projects

• General appeals.
• Capital expenditure (e.g., building refurbishment, equipment acquisition).
• Consumables (e.g., stationery, scientific supplies).
• School, college, or university fees.
• Research or study by individual students.
• Salary costs or professional fees.
• Commissions for works of art.
• Retrospective grants.
• Replacement of statutory funding.
• Commercial activities.
