Program Description

The aim of the fund is to mobilize local communities, encourage voluntary collaboration, and empower individuals and communities to take action that:

  • Reduces local CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Increases nature's ability to absorb and store greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Builds resilience in nature to mitigate the impact of climate change.

Funding Information

  • Grants: £200 to £600.

Project Results

Projects must focus on achieving one or more of the following results:

  • More energy-efficient buildings.
  • Greater awareness of energy efficiency and how to reduce energy costs.
  • Support for active travel, such as new walking groups or footpath improvements.
  • Practical support for electric vehicles (e.g., a community EV charge point).
  • A new renewable energy project.
  • More trees or a community orchard.
  • Nature improvement, such as new conservation measures or enhanced biodiversity.
  • Greater reduction, reuse, or recycling of products that would otherwise go to waste.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants include:

  • An Unincorporated Association (a group with a constitution).
  • A Registered Charity.
  • A Community Interest Company (CIC).
  • A Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO).
  • New groups that are not yet constituted.

Applicants must operate within, or benefit, people or places within the Staffordshire Moorlands local authority district.

Ineligibility Criteria

The following are ineligible for the community grant:

  • Individuals.
  • Private businesses.
  • Organizations engaged in political activities, as defined by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, including those aimed at furthering the interests of any political party or opposing any changes in the law or public policy.
