The UN Women Nepal Country Office (NCO) invites applications from two media personnel to attend the Practical Gender Responsive News Reporting Workshop, part of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review in Bangkok from 18-21 November 2024.

Program Overview
The regional review aims to evaluate challenges affecting the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA) and its impact on achieving gender equality and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific region. The workshop seeks to enhance knowledge on progress and gaps in women’s and girls’ rights and stimulate media discussions on gender equality issues in Nepal.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Media Coverage and Storytelling: Attend open-door meetings, side events, and discussions, producing news stories for national media outlets.
- Reporting and Visual Documentation: Provide high-quality photographs and editorial content on conference developments, receiving editorial support from the UN Women Regional Office.
- Networking and Coordination: Coordinate with Nepalese Delegates and UN Women Delegates to exchange updates and insights during the conference.
- Post-Conference Reporting: Write articles/reports contextualizing the conference discussions within Nepal’s gender equality landscape upon returning.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a Nepali journalist (preference for marginalized communities such as Indigenous people, Dalits, Persons with Disabilities, or LGBTIQ+ individuals).
- At least 3 years of journalism experience with a track record of published articles in gender equality or social justice fields.
Requirements
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae with relevant experience and at least five published articles related to gender equality.
- A letter of motivation detailing relevant experience, knowledge, and reasons for participating in the Beijing+30 conference.
