The Ontario Arts Council is accepting applications for its Dance Projects program, which aims to support the creation, production, and presentation of live and virtual dance as well as initiatives that benefit Ontario’s professional dance community.
Categories
- Creation: Supporting artistic costs for choreography and development of new work. There must be a showing, such as in-studio or virtual, for invited guests.
- Production and Presentation: Funding for artistic, production, and presentation costs of live or virtual dance, including commissions, co-productions, remounting, and tours.
- Series and Festivals: Presentation costs for series and festivals that promote professional choreographers and dance companies.
- Mentorship – Individuals: Mentorship for Indigenous, Deaf, and artists with disabilities, focused on Indigenous dance practices and other inclusive dance forms.
- Training and Community Development: Support for forums, workshops, master classes, equity and access initiatives, and other activities that benefit the professional dance community.
Priorities
- Creation, Production, and Festivals: Projects that engage professional Ontario-based choreographers.
- Series and Festivals: Projects where applicants do not present their own works.
- Training and Community Development: Projects supporting dance practices with limited training opportunities in Ontario.
Funding Information
- Creation: Up to $5,000.
- Production and Presentation: Up to $20,000.
- Series and Festivals: Up to $15,000.
- Mentorship – Individuals: Up to $2,500.
- Training and Community Development: Up to $7,500.
Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to professional dance artists, Ontario-based ad hoc groups, and incorporated non-profit dance companies. Applicants must demonstrate that they have engaged professional dance expertise for their projects. Certain organizations and individuals, such as dance students and for-profit organizations, are ineligible to apply.
