The Donors' Initiative for Mediterranean Freshwater Ecosystems (DIMFE) is excited to announce its Call for Project Proposals to tackle one of the major challenges of the 21st century: Water resource management.
About DIMFE
Founded in 2021, DIMFE is a collaborative funders' initiative dedicated to the conservation and restoration of freshwater ecosystems in the Mediterranean region, including rivers, lakes, marshes, and peatlands.
Focus Areas
- Conservation and restoration of freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity.
- Sustainable use and management of water resources.
- Development and implementation of sustainable financing mechanisms for freshwater ecosystem conservation and sustainable water use.
Funding Information
- Financial support ranges from €100,000 to €500,000.
- DIMFE’s contribution should not exceed 75% of the total project budget. For requests exceeding €300,000, a 25% non-in-kind co-financing is mandatory.
- Projects should adopt a holistic approach, considering community and cultural aspects, socio-economic benefits, environmentally beneficial practices, and respect for ethnicity and gender.
Eligible Projects
- Projects must be located within the Mediterranean basin.
- Projects should produce impactful results on the ground.
- Projects must align with the listed themes and budgetary constraints.
- Projects submitted by individuals alone will not be considered.
- Projects should start between March and June 2025 and have a maximum duration of 3 years.
Eligible Applicants
Eligible entities include:
- NGOs
- Local authorities
- Municipalities
- Private companies (with fewer than 20 employees) engaged in ecological transition
- Scientific institutions
Application Deadline
Submit your project proposals by 15th October 2024.
