Objectives
The MedWet Initiative seeks projects to:
- Initiate or facilitate the creation of animations or tools for wetland awareness and education in the Mediterranean.
- Raise public awareness about the conservation of wetlands in the region.
- Encourage participation in World Wetlands Day, a global event.
- Create a network of initiatives promoting wetland conservation in the Mediterranean.
Focus Areas
World Wetlands Day aims to connect with wetland users and discuss the importance of wetlands in the Mediterranean. Focus areas include:
- Animations and tools targeting a young audience (up to 25 years old) with educational purposes.
- Tools applicable to other events.
Possible funded activities include, but are not limited to:
- Cultural activities
- Workshops
- Construction sites
- Conferences and debates
- Exhibitions
- Observation points
- Movie screenings
- Educational projects
- Nature excursions
- Participatory science
Selection Criteria
Projects will be evaluated based on:
- Event dynamics: Focus on communication, education, and awareness of wetlands, particularly for young audiences.
- Valorization of the annual theme: "Protecting wetlands for our common future" (optional but beneficial).
- Type of expense: The funding can cover or co-finance animations or tools, including service or production invoices.
- Communication: The phrase “World Wetlands Day” and MedWet and OFB logos must be included in the project's communication materials. MedWet will provide Ramsar identity tools for this purpose.
