The European Data Space for Smart Communities (DS4SSCC-DEP) action is calling for pilots to validate and advance the development of an EU-wide cross-sectorial data space. This initiative supports policy priorities for cities and communities across the EU, focusing on green-digital transformation based on secure and sovereign data infrastructure.

Scope
The pilots should create new data services by sharing data across at least two of the following areas, and may also include other European Green Deal domains:
- Predictive traffic management and sustainable mobility planning
- Data services related to weather, climate, and extreme weather events
- Management of energy flows in city/community contexts
- Zero pollution actions (air, water, soil pollution, waste)
- New European Bauhaus domains (urban design, building management, public services, nature-based solutions)
Funding Information
Each pilot will be funded between 1 to 1½ million euros, with a maximum of 1 million euros per partner. The total EU contribution is 15.3 million euros, distributed to around 12 chosen pilot consortiums. Funding must be balanced among pilot sites, and co-financing of at least 50% is required.

Who can Apply?
The call is open to local public administrations in the EU and Digital Europe Programme (DEP) Associated countries, as well as their partners (companies, civil society organizations, academia). Consortia must execute cross-sectorial and cross-border pilot activities and co-finance at least 50% of the project.
Consortia Eligibility Criteria
- Consortia must include at least two local or regional public administrations from different EU member states or DEP Associated countries.
- Consortia can involve other eligible parties (companies, academia, civil society organizations).
- Entities must not be controlled by ineligible countries. Guarantees may be required if there is a risk of control by non-EU countries.
- All entities (except validated public bodies) must submit an Ownership Control Declaration (OCD).
