The National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) invites nominations for the Breed Conservation Award to honor efforts in conserving and maintaining registered breeds of livestock and poultry in India.
Awards Categories
The awards will be presented on 23rd December (Kisan Diwas) in two categories:
- Breed Conservation Awards for Individuals: Recognizing efforts in conserving indigenous registered breeds of domestic livestock and poultry. Awards: First, Second, Third, and one Consolation prize.
- Breed Conservation Awards for Institutions: For government institutions, breed societies, NGOs, gaushalas, etc., involved in conserving indigenous registered breeds. Awards: First, Second, Third, and one Consolation prize.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility includes:
- Indian individuals, communities, or institutions engaged in indigenous breed conservation, enhancing income from breeds, or providing breeding services.
- Applicants must have been engaged in animal rearing or conservation for at least 5 years prior to the award year.
- Institutions must be registered breeders’ associations, breed societies, government organizations, NGOs, or gaushalas. Only one application per species from an institution will be accepted.
- Applications must focus on breeds registered with ICAR-NBAGR. Only one breed per application will be considered; applications mentioning multiple breeds will be rejected.
- Breeds awarded in the past three years are not eligible, but a breed previously awarded in one category may be considered in the other category.
