Overview
The Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs (RISE) is now accepting applications for its support program aimed at enabling young people in the Western Balkans to develop sustainable social enterprises. RISE promotes reconciliation and collaboration in the region by fostering social entrepreneurship.
What is a Social Business?
A social business aims to achieve social or environmental goals while generating sustainable financial returns. Unlike traditional businesses that focus on profit maximization, social businesses address societal issues and improve community well-being, using profits to achieve their social objectives.
What Do They Offer?
RISE offers a comprehensive support program called the RISE Journey, which includes:
- Ideation Chapter (October 2024 - February 2025): Access to training and mentoring on social entrepreneurship and interculturality. Top ideas receive financial support of €2,500, an expedition in the Western Balkans, and participation in a regional incubation program.
- Incubation Chapter (March 2025 - June 2025): Development of a working prototype, regional Bootcamp, and exposure to social enterprises through the RISE expedition.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be:
- Young people aged 16 to 35 from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, or Serbia.
- Fluent in English.
- Available for 4 hours of participation per week during the ideation phase.
- Highly motivated to learn and develop a social impact idea.
- At least have identified a social or environmental issue they want to address.
- Not yet engaged in a real business activity.
Ineligible projects include those already supported by similar programs, registered entities, political parties, and ideas with discriminatory practices.
