The Japan Foundation is now accepting applications for the JFBKK Small Grant Program 2024. This program aims to support partial expenses for projects related to Japan in the fields of Arts & Culture and Japanese Studies.

Program Priorities

  • Enhancing understanding of Japanese arts and culture in Thailand and the surrounding region.
  • Supporting joint research and conferences with the intent to publish results.
  • Promoting and expanding Japanese studies in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Encouraging innovative and pioneering approaches in project themes and content.
  • Projects with potential for future development and expansion.

Funding Information

Grants cover up to 50,000 THB</> of project expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations based in Thailand, Cambodia, or Laos, such as universities, research institutes, academic associations, and NGOs/NPOs. Projects should be carried out in the applicant's country and completed within a Japanese fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Applicants must have a bank account capable of receiving grants from the Japan Foundation, Bangkok. Individual accounts are acceptable with a certified letter of relationship.

Qualifying Projects

Supported projects include:

  • International art and cultural exchange events in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, such as art exhibitions, performing arts, and film screenings that promote Japanese arts and culture.
  • Projects enhancing Japanese studies, including joint-research, conferences, seminars, and intensive courses in the region.

Ineligibility Criteria

The following are not eligible for funding:

  • Applications from individuals or for-profit organizations.
  • Projects exclusively in the field of natural science.
  • Commercial, missionary, political activities, or election campaigns.
  • Activities supporting specific doctrines, capital funds, debt reduction, donations, or public relations campaigns.
  • Construction or maintenance of buildings or monuments.
