The International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) is now accepting applications for its Financial Support Grants. These grants are designed to advance the development of international research networks and enhance skills within the Quaternary research community.
Grant Categories
International Research Network (IRN)
INQUA offers funding for both multi-year and single-year International Research Networks:
- Multi-year Projects: Focused on broad scientific topics with a significant international impact. These projects can receive up to 8,000 Euros annually, for a duration of up to four years.
- Single-year Projects: Targeted at smaller-scale collaborations to address specific scientific questions. Funding is up to 5,000 Euros for one year.
Applications must demonstrate:
- A significant Quaternary research question.
- Concrete progress plans and high engagement from the international INQUA community.
- A framework that involves early-career and developing-country researchers.
- Clear outcomes or products from the project.
International Skills Activity Grant (ISA)
This category supports skill development in under-resourced areas, including early-career and developing-country scientists. Grants range from 4,000 to 8,000 Euros and should:
- Address specific skill gaps in a region or field.
- Foster skill enhancement through networking, training, and exchanges.
- Provide long-term benefits to the INQUA community.
Eligible Activities
Funding can be used for:
- Travel, accommodation, and subsistence for researchers attending INQUA meetings.
- Conference room rentals and field trip vehicles.
- Video-conferencing costs and development of webcasts or podcasts.
ISA grants can additionally cover:
- Development of teaching and training resources.
Ineligible Activities
INQUA grants will not support:
- Salaries, stipends, or travel costs for unrelated meetings.
- Server costs, journal/book publication costs, equipment purchases, and institutional overheads.
Eligibility Criteria
Grants are available for institutional or non-institutional accounts. Institutions should not charge overheads. Non-institutional applicants must ensure compliance with their institution’s policies. Grants can be transferred to co-leaders or local organizers upon request.
