The Ontario Arts Council is currently accepting applications for the Visual Arts and Crafts - French Speaking Projects for artists, curators, ad hoc groups, collectives, and Francophone organizations in Ontario.

Categories

The program supports visual arts and crafts practices through grants in five categories:

  • Creation – Early Career Artists: To help cover the costs of research, experimentation, creation, and production of new works. Maximum grant: $5,000.
  • Creation – Mid-career Artists: To help cover the costs of research, experimentation, creation, and production of new works. Maximum grant: $7,500.
  • Creation – Established Artists: To help cover the costs of research, experimentation, creation, and production of new works. Maximum grant: $15,000.
  • Curatorial Project: To help cover the costs of finding independent curators. Maximum grant: $5,000.
  • Exhibitions/Connections: To help present projects whose objective is to exhibit, document, and disseminate the work of Ontario visual artists or professional crafts. Maximum grant: $10,000.

Priorities

For the Exhibitions/Connections category, priority will be given to candidates from the visual arts and crafts sector.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Creation Categories: Professional visual and craft artists who reside in Ontario. Individual artists representing a group of artists must apply on behalf of the group.
  • Curatorial Project Category: Professional visual arts or crafts curators who reside in Ontario.
  • Exhibitions/Connections Category: Collectives and ad hoc groups working in the visual arts or crafts sector and of which at least 50% of members reside in Ontario. Incorporated non-profit organizations with a head office in Ontario.

Ineligibility Criteria

  • Undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full-time at an educational institution.
  • Curators applying for research or exhibition activities commissioned as part of employment with an organization receiving operating grants from the CAO.
  • Municipalities, colleges, and universities.
  • Companies incorporated for profit.
  • Organizations receiving an operating grant from the CAO, except those receiving an operating grant from the Visual Arts, Media Arts, and Crafts program: Francophone self-managed artist organizations and centers – operation or Francophone Diffusion – operation.
