The Kone Foundation is currently accepting applications for its grant program. This initiative supports research in the humanities, social sciences, and environmental sciences, as well as artistic research and professional artistic work. The Foundation also funds cross-disciplinary and multidisciplinary projects.
Focus Areas
- Academic and Artistic Freedom: Emphasizes the intrinsic value of research and art, supporting projects developed freely on one’s own premises. Product development is rarely funded.
- A Plurality of Voices: Encourages collaboration and seeks projects that are multidisciplinary, novel, and challenge prevailing views.
- Boldness: Supports experimentation, incompleteness, and unexpected approaches.
- Long Term: Focuses on multi-year personal grants for academic and artistic work.
- Crossing Borders: Supports transnationalism, including Finnish grantees working abroad or foreign grantees working in Finland.
- Environmental Sustainability: Encourages environmentally sustainable methods and low-emission travel. Travel expenses should be included in the "Other" section of the budget.
