The Jana Robeyst Trust Fund (JRTF) is now accepting applications for the Small Conservation Grants. This initiative is designed to support early-career biologists and conservationists in conducting crucial fieldwork and research in Africa.
Funding Information
Grants of up to €1,500 are available for selected projects. Funding can be used for:
- Field conservation and research activities
- Travel costs for conferences or workshops
- Essential field equipment purchases
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, projects must:
- Have clear conservation value and be based in a sub-Saharan African country
- Preferably focus on elephants, though education projects will also be considered
- Be led by early-career biologists or conservationists
- Be able to demonstrate applied benefits to conservation or target an identified conservation need
Applicants from around the world are welcome, and both successful and unsuccessful applicants can reapply 12 months after their initial submission.
Ineligible Projects
The following will not be funded:
- Pure research without applied conservation benefits
- Living costs, salaries, thesis production costs, retrospective costs, fundraising costs, or debt repayment
- Office equipment or internship/volunteer program costs unless essential for fieldwork
