Applications are now open for The Earth Prize, an annual global competition offering $100,000 in awards to teenage students who develop innovative solutions for environmental sustainability. This competition aims to inspire, educate, mentor, and empower students to address environmental challenges.

About the Competition

The Earth Prize seeks to inspire and empower the next generation of environmental leaders and innovators. The competition has seen participation from teams in over 150 countries in its first three editions, creating a global platform for sharing and scaling environmental solutions.

Prize Information

  • Regional Winners: Seven teams will be recognized as “The Earth Prize Regional Winners” and awarded a USD 12,500 prize each. The regional categories are:
    • The Earth Prize 2025 African Winner
    • The Earth Prize 2025 Asian Winner
    • The Earth Prize 2025 Central and South American Winner
    • The Earth Prize 2025 European Winner
    • The Earth Prize 2025 Middle Eastern Winner
    • The Earth Prize 2025 North American Winner
    • The Earth Prize 2025 Oceanian Winner
  • The Earth Prize Educator of the Year: Three educators will be recognized and awarded USD 2,500 each.
  • The Earth Prize Mentor of the Year: Three mentors will be honored and awarded USD 2,500 each.
  • Additional Distinctions: The Earth Foundation may introduce additional awards, including cash prizes or other recognitions, to highlight outstanding final ideas and participants.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all students worldwide born between 2005 and 2011.
  • Participants must be in secondary education. Tertiary education students are not eligible.
  • Students from any geographic location can participate. There are no geographic restrictions.
  • All submissions must be in English.
  • Participants can be individuals or teams of up to five students from the same institution. Teams from different grades or classes are welcome.
  • Teams are encouraged to have an assigned adult Supervisor (e.g., teacher, school administrator). For homeschooled students, a parent may serve as the Supervisor. Official certification of the Supervisor’s status is required.
  • Past participants may apply again if they meet the eligibility criteria, but previous winners or runners-up are not eligible.
