The Climate Change Programme under the Department of Science & Technology (DST) is inviting applications to address the complex issues posed by climate change through various initiatives. This call focuses on Urban Climate Research and Extreme Events, addressing specific climate challenges faced by India's urban areas.

Objectives
This call is not aimed at funding conventional proposals but will focus on interdisciplinary, multi-institutional efforts on one of the following objectives:
- Advanced Simulations and Understanding of Urban Microclimate in a Changing Environment
- Urban Early Warning
- Adaptation Gap and Design Schemes
Two programs are available:
- Major Research & Development Programme (MRDP) on Urban Climate Research & Extreme Event: Budget Ceiling: ₹ 3 Crore, Duration: 3 Years
- R&D Programme on Urban Climate Research & Extreme Event: Budget Ceiling: ₹ 1 Crore, Duration: 3 Years
Eligibility Criteria
Major Research & Development Programme (MRDP)
- Educational Background: The Principal Investigator (PI) should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Climate Science, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant post-doctoral experience in research, teaching, or professional practice related to urban climate, climate change adaptation, or urban sustainability.
- Collaboration with Government Ministries: The PI must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in projects involving collaboration with DST, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), or any Government Department.
R&D Programme
- Educational Background: The PI should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Climate Science, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Meteorology, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant post-doctoral experience in research, teaching, or professional practice related to urban climate, climate change adaptation, or urban sustainability.
