Applications Open for Paul Hamlyn Foundation's India Fund Program 2024

The Paul Hamlyn Foundation is now accepting applications for the India Fund Program 2024. This program focuses on supporting small NGOs working with the most vulnerable communities in priority geographical areas of India.

Program Aims

The India Fund Program aims to:

  • Encourage NGOs to undertake community-centric development programs
  • Enable communities to take charge of their own development and improve their lives
  • Address systemic change through development funding
  • Enhance the capacity of organizations and individuals facilitating these goals

Funding is targeted at vulnerable communities including:

  • Communities with limited access to education and health services
  • Dalit communities, particularly those in hazardous work
  • Disabled people, especially children
  • Families in extreme poverty
  • Tribal communities fighting for or dispossessed of their land and resources
  • Women

Funding Information

Amount: ₹10,00,000 to ₹30,00,000

Duration: 1 to 2 years

Priority Geographical Areas

The program supports work in central parts of India, particularly in:

  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Chhattisgarh
  • Odisha
  • Jharkhand
  • Bihar
  • West Bengal
  • Assam

Additionally, the program covers areas with extreme poverty in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, including:

  • Mewar and Hadoti (southern and south-eastern Rajasthan)
  • Bundelkhand (Northern Madhya Pradesh and southern districts of Uttar Pradesh bordering Madhya Pradesh)
  • The Dangs (south-eastern Gujarat)
  • Telangana (northern Andhra Pradesh)
  • Vidharbha (eastern and northern Maharashtra)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible organizations must be local Indian NGOs with Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration. They should be:

  • Working with communities to develop their ideas
  • Improving the overall wellbeing of communities in the long-term
  • Linking their work with panchayats and municipalities
  • Aware of and mitigating their environmental impact
  • Promoting gender equality and supporting all genders to make change

Ineligibility Criteria

The fund will not support:

  • Non-Indian organizations or branches of non-Indian organizations
  • Organizations without FCRA registration
  • Political or religious institutions
  • Applications through consultants or fundraisers
