The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is inviting applications for its Contemporary Music Projects. This initiative supports festivals, concerts with premieres and revivals, composition commissions, symposia, and the publication of musicological writings worldwide.

The Music Foundation is dedicated to promoting academies for young musicians and composers. Additionally, it supports educational projects aimed at children and youth, helping to introduce contemporary music to new or young audiences.

Funding Information

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation primarily covers artistic costs, but it does not provide full funding for projects. The Board of Trustees evaluates the requested funding amount in relation to contributions from other institutions, organizers, or foundations. At least one other institution should participate in the project, contributing financially at a similar level to the amount requested from the EvS Music Foundation.

Comparable artistic achievements are rewarded equally, regardless of gender and origin. Even if support is requested for only part of the project, a complete cost and financing plan must be submitted. For instance, if seeking support for a composition fee, a cost and financing plan for at least the premiere concert should be provided.

Each institution can submit only one application per deadline and can be supported with one project per calendar year. A maximum of three projects can be supported in three consecutive years or periods (e.g., in the case of biennials).

Ineligible Projects

The foundation does not award scholarships or support the production of marketable CDs.
Internal university projects and general institutional promotions are not supported, as funds are allocated for specific purposes.
Funding for printing costs of dissertations is not possible.
Project applications that have been rejected previously cannot be resubmitted.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications can only be made by the organizing institution. Self-applications and applications from individuals are not permitted. The applicant stated will be the contact person for all content-related queries and must be an authorized signatory for the institution, along with the commercial management, as they will sign the funding agreement if a grant is awarded.
