About the Awards
These awards highlight projects that have taken place within the EU Atlantic Action Plan member states over recent years. The awards showcase success stories, best practices, and partnership models that could be scaled up at various levels while promoting key priorities of the Atlantic Strategy.
The winners will be announced at the 11th Atlantic Stakeholders Platform Conference (ASPC) in November in Bordeaux, France.
Objectives
- Promote the key priorities and achievements of the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0 to the wider EU public.
- Showcase initiatives, successful collaborations, and best practices that could inspire replication or scaling up.
- Support award-winning projects with visibility and a platform to present their initiatives and connect with potential growth partners.
Award Categories
- Atlantic Ports: Projects that feature ports as gateways and hubs for the blue economy and/or business catalysts in the Atlantic.
- Blue Skills and Ocean Literacy: Projects that boost blue skills and jobs, quality education, training, and promote ocean literacy.
- Marine Renewable Energy: Projects that promote carbon neutrality through marine renewable energy.
- Healthy Oceans and Resilient Coasts: Projects for stronger coastal resilience and combatting marine pollution.
- International Cooperation: Projects with an international dimension reflecting the Galway and Belém Statements and the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance.
What Award Winners Receive
- Trophy and certificate.
- Opportunity to present their project during ASPC 2024.
- Promotion through Atlantic Community’s communication channels, CINEA/DG MARE’s channels, and general media.
- Atlantic Project Award Seal.
Expected Outcomes
- Promote Atlantic success stories and initiatives for further support and scaling.
- Provide a database of projects and best practices that support the EU Green Deal and the Atlantic Action Plan 2.0.
- Engage existing and new stakeholders in the Atlantic Community.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be headquartered, domiciled, or present in an EU Atlantic Member State (France, Ireland, Portugal, Spain).
- Eligible projects must be funded and either in progress or completed within the Atlantic Strategy geographical area.
- Projects must have been initiated within 36 months prior to the announcement of the call (i.e., after 01/05/2021 for the 2024 call).
