Programme Overview
This new programme offers targeted, long-term support to young journalists and civil society leaders to drive real change in attitudes, practices, and policies. Participants will experience various stages, including:
- Integration into the programme through individual interviews with Foundation and/or Global Fund staff.
- Participation in the TRF innovative training in Dakar, Senegal, from December 2-6, 2024.
- One-on-one mentoring for journalists to develop and publish original pieces, and for CSOs to pursue communications objectives.
- Access to legal support through platforms like the Legal Network for Journalists at Risk (LNJAR) and the TrustLaw network.
- Networking with other young journalists and activists.
Expected Outcomes
Participants will enhance their journalism and communication skills, gaining a deeper understanding of best practices in reporting on human rights and health services. Journalists will be better equipped to report on barriers to health services, particularly for marginalized groups, and understand Reuters' journalism principles.
Cost Coverage
The programme covers:
- International and domestic flights (economy class).
- Visa fees, accommodation, local transportation, meals, and a daily allowance.
- Reimbursement of other reasonable expenses, pending prior agreement with the Foundation.
Eligibility Criteria
To participate, journalists must:
- Be full-time journalists or regular contributors to media or social platforms in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal, or Tunisia.
- Have at least three years of professional experience and a good command of French.
- Be under 30 years of age and hold a valid passport.
